Attorney Christon S. Halkiotis
owner/managing attorney
A native of Chapel Hill, NC, & a proud granddaughter of Greek immigrants, Christon Halkiotis is a graduate of Rutgers University & the North Carolina Central University School of Law.
Christon has exclusively practiced criminal law since she was licensed in 2004. From October 2004 until the end of September 2019, she practiced as an Assistant District Attorney in Guilford County. During her 15 years as a prosecutor, Christon ran District and Superior Courts in both Greensboro and High Point, as well as Juvenile Court in High Point. She spent 12 years prosecuting felonies in Guilford County Superior Court, and has tried over 300 bench trials and over 30 jury trials, including first degree murder, drug trafficking, and child sex cases.
In 2014, after passing a 6-hour written exam and undergoing a peer-review process, Christon was certified as a Board Certified Specialist in State Criminal Law by the North Carolina State Bar Board of Legal Specialization.
In October 2019, Christon opened The Law Office of Christon S. Halkiotis, PLLC, a boutique criminal defense firm in Greensboro, NC, where she defends all manner of criminal cases, with a focus on high-level felony and capital defense. As a defense attorney, Christon uses her experience and ability to think like a prosecutor to fight for the rights of people accused of everything from traffic offenses to murder cases & other high level felonies. She has tried high level felonies to juries as both a prosecutor and a defense attorney.
When Christon isn’t practicing law, she enjoys volunteering in the community, and served as the 2018-2019 President of the Junior League of Greensboro. She also enjoys teaching CLE courses regularly to both new and seasoned attorneys, as well as teaching students at Elon University School of Law, where she is an Adjunct Professor of Law.
Christon is currently serving as the 2023 President of the Greensboro Criminal Defense Lawyers’ Association. She is also currently serving a three-year term on the North Carolina State Bar’s Disciplinary Hearing Commission.
